Saxophonist/multi-instrumentalist and composer Nick Biello is developing a reputation as an exciting and artful musician.
Nick has shared the stage with world-class artists, such as Slide Hampton, Cedar Walton, and John Benitez. He has performed at the Pescara and Bussi Jazz Festivals in Italy, as well as the Taipei and Taichung Jazz Festivals in Taiwan, and other festivals across the globe. Nick's saxophone has been heard in notable NYC venues such as Birdland, Blue Note, Dizzy's, Lincoln Center, Cellar Dog, Smalls, Mezzrow, Smoke, Zinc Bar, The Kitano, Joe's Pub at the Public Theater, and Sony HallNick has recorded on hundreds of albums, from his own original projects to his work as a sideman for other artists. His debut album, "Vagabond Soul," released in 2017 on the Truth Revolution Recording Collective, features Phil Markowitz, John Benitez, Clarence Penn, Paul Jones, Andrew Renfroe, and Vincent Lionti. “Between Light and Shadow”, a collection of original compositions for the chordless trio format, was released in May of 2024 on La Reserve Records and features Biello’s working trio of Alex Tremblay on bass and Peter Kronreif on drums. His third album as a leader, “New America”, combines the rhythm team of Tremblay and Kronreif and adds the formidable musicianship of trumpet virtuoso Charlie Porter and the eminent pianist George Colligan.
Nick was prowess as a saxophonist and improviser by being named the winner of the Julius Keilwerth 2014 International Saxophone Idol Competition. Additionally, as part of being named the winner of the competition, Nick was afforded the opportunity to perform alongside the great Ernie Watts.
In demand as a composer and arranger, Nicholas has written arrangements that have been performed by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Dave Koz, and Kelly Rowland. His work has been televised on networks such as ABC and ESPN, and heard in venues in Las Vegas, L.A., and New York City. He has worked with members of the famed Apollo Theater house band in music composition and production.
Nick has studied with Jackie McLean, Steve Wilson, George Garzone, Jon Gordon, and Phil Markowitz, and holds a Master of Music Degree from Manhattan School of Music.
With experience in an array of educational environments, Nick is available as a group clinician or as a private teacher. He teaches Saxophone at The New School and New Jersey City University, is the Artistic Director of the Blaine Harbor Music Festival in Washington, and teaches private students.
Nick is a D'addario Woodwinds Artist and uses D'addario reeds and accessories.
Charlie Porter - Trumpet Charlie is a Grammy Award-winning trumpeter and composer who excels in both the jazz and classical worlds. A graduate of The Juilliard School—where he studied under Wynton Marsalis—and a Fulbright Scholar, Porter made history as the first trumpeter to win 1st place in both the classical and jazz divisions of the National Trumpet Competition.
With four acclaimed albums as a leader, including the DownBeat "Best of the Year" release Immigration Nation, Porter has performed globally with icons ranging from jazz great Joe Zawinul to opera star Joyce DiDonato. He is a founding member of the Grammy-nominated Absolute Ensemble and currently serves as an adjunct professor of trumpet at NYU.
At just 24 years old, NYC-based pianist and composer Eric Stern has been described by BroadwayWorld as making “keyboarding more like surfboarding... every solo is a show unto itself.” A rising star in the jazz scene, Eric holds a Master’s from the Manhattan School of Music (2025) and a degree from the Frost School of Music, where he studied under legends such as Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Buster Williams, and Jon Faddis.
Eric’s accolades include the Bösendorfer Prize at the American Jazz Pianist Competition, a DownBeat Award, and being a National YoungArts winner. In 2025, he won the Detroit Collegiate Combo Competition with the group Sonder, leading to a performance at the Detroit Jazz Festival.
Equally adept at jazz, salsa, and fusion, Eric currently performs with Grammy-winning bassist John Benitez and Oscar Hernandez’s mambo-style band La Carabali. His current leadership projects include a monthly residency for his Cuban Jazz Project at Terraza 7 and headlining Jazz Vespers at Saint Peter’s Church. With upcoming recordings alongside John Benitez and hip-hop collective Good Lives Crew, Eric continues to push boundaries across genres at venues like Chelsea Table & Stage and ShapeShifter Lab.
Alex Tremblay - Bass Alex is a premier Brooklyn-based bassist known for providing a world-class foundation across jazz, R&B, and soul. Mentored by Ron Carter and Steve Davis, Alex has spent ten years performing on the world’s most prestigious stages, from The Blue Note to Mezzrow.
His recent discography has garnered significant acclaim, with his 2024 release earning a featured spot on Apple Music. Beyond his work as a performer and film composer, Alex is a vital voice in music education, conducting masterclasses internationally and leading programs for the Newport Festival Foundation and BackCountry Jazz.
We're sorry, there are no refunds after tickets have been purchased. In the event of a pandemic, rain, snow, or other forms of weather which prohibit a performance, the performance date will be postponed and rescheduled for another date within a reasonable amount of time. If the new date is postponed, a future alternate date will be picked at the discretion of Bethel Jazz and the musical artist. The ticket holder will be notified of postponements, cancelations, and rescheduled dates via email. Tickets are non-refundable and may be transferred to another person in the event a purchaser can not make the rescheduled date. In the event, an artist cancels a date, and Bethel Jazz is unable to reschedule the artist, Bethel Jazz reserves the right to provide a substitute performer of equal quality without notice to the ticket purchaser. If a date is canceled and not rescheduled, Bethel Jazz will provide a refund (in some cases minus the Eventbrite fee) or credit for another performance at the choice of the ticket holder. Bethel Jazz will always do its best to accommodate for changes in seating, table sizes, or changes to tickets.
