Understanding the lived experiences of families and how they navigate educational and disability systems.

This free hybrid CME and CE will explore the lived experiences of parents and caregivers who support children, youth, and adults with neurodevelopmental conditions. Families will share their journeys, including their successes and challenges, as they navigate systems of care for loved ones with varying levels of support needs. Panelists will also discuss solutions to common challenges and offer suggestions to help other parents build effective advocacy skills to support their family members.

Objectives:

After attending the meeting, participants will be able to :

1. Describe the lived experiences of families caring for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions

2. Identify common barriers within support and care systems

3. Examine the strategies families use to navigate these systems for individuals with different levels of support needs

4. Learn practical approaches and solutions shared by parents and caregivers to better support their own loved ones.

Learners' Outcome: Learners will self-report an increase in knowledge about the lived experiences of families caring for individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions and the systems they must navigate.
