NEMBA Adventure Series - the 10th Anniversary Turkey Afterburner!

Celebrate 10 Years of the Turkey Afterburner!

Presented by Southeast MA NEMBA and Hale Education, Inc.

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of one of New England’s most beloved mountain biking traditions: the Turkey Afterburner at Hale Education. Join us for a full day of bikes, music, food, community, and celebration! Enjoy late fall riding in New England, to close out the season with a bang.

Come for the rides, stay for the vibes—enjoy self-guided and expert-led rides, bike demos, a vendor/sponsor fair, food trucks, beer garden, live music, raffle prizes, giveaways, and more. Proceeds benefit Hale Education’s youth mountain biking programs and Southeast MA NEMBA’s trail projects and stewardship.

The Turkey Afterburner is the culminating event of the NEMBA 2025 Adventure Series, proudly supported by our sponsors Conte’s Bike Shop and Jeffrey Glassman Injury Lawyers.

Schedule

• 8:00 am – Gates open
• 8:30 am – Sign-in & registration open
• 9:00 am – Trails open & group rides begin
  (full group ride schedule will be posted online 1 week before the event)
• 11:00 am – Food trucks & beer garden open
• 12:00 noon - Fun & games, contests of bike skill
• 1:00–3:00 pm – Live music: Just Another Guru in the beer garden
• 4:00 pm – Event closes

What to Expect

Discover the incredible trail network at Hale Education, less than 5 miles outside the city limits of Boston. From smooth fire roads to flowy singletrack, rocky tech, and purpose-built skills features, there’s something for everyone—including a skills park and jump bags!

Highlights include:

• Well-marked routes for self-guided adventure for Beginner/Family, Novice, Intermediate and Advanced riders, with an adaptive loop, and the Dover Demons rest stop at Powisset Beach for hot cider and cookies!
• Group rides with experienced leaders exploring Hale’s hidden gems and technical challenges. JUST ADDED: Mixed Terrain gravel ride exploring the greater Hale area of Needham, Dover and Medfield!
• Special skills progression ride with Hale MTB instructors — this will fill up fast!
• Adaptive Cycling with Waypoint Adventures (Bowhead demo cycles are available for use, please email SRobinson@waypointadventure.org ahead of time)
• Bike demos with Conte’s Bike Shop (select Santa Cruz models), Biker's Edge (select Specialized models), and Hutch Motorsports (select Pivot and Amflow e-bike models)
• Food trucks & fire pit for refueling and staying cozy
• Live music in the beer garden with everyone’s favorite Just Another Guru!
• Vendor village with bike shops, local businesses, and more offering swag, light repair help, deals, free samples. • Cool 10th anniversary swag! The first 250 to register will receive a free custom designed buff (neck gaiter), to keep you toasty on the trails. UPDATE: Sorry, the free buffs are gone. But we will have more buffs for sale at the venue, along with a VERY limited edition 10th anniversary Turkey Afterburner steel cup!

At Southeast MA NEMBA, our motto is: “You Belong. Let’s Ride!” We welcome riders of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds for an inclusive, supportive day on the trails and around the fire pit.

Volunteers Needed - Register for free!

We need lots of volunteers before and during the event to make it a success. If you can help, go to SEMass NEMBA: 2025 SEMass NEMBA Turkey Afterburner Volunteer Signup, sign up for a slot, and then you will receive a code to register for free.

• Pick up any pre-purchased Adventure Series t-shirts, or purchase an Adventure Series t-shirt at the NEMBA tent on site.

Parking:

You will be directed to a parking area on Hale Education property. Arrive early for the closest spots to the main venue!
