Winter is a quiet time in nature, but there's still lots to explore! Join us for a naturalist-guided winter walk. The focus of the walks will depend on the weather and snow conditions, but will include looking for tracks and signs of wintering wildlife, observing dormant trees, plants, insects, and much more!
Walks will cover two miles or less over easy to moderate terrain. You'll want to dress warmly and wear sturdy boots.
If there is six or more inches of snow on the ground, snow shoes are strongly recommended. We have a limited number of both adult and child-sized snowshoes available to rent for the program ($5/pair) or you may bring your own. If there is snow, but less than six inches, we recommend the use of winter traction devices on your shoes (Micro spikes, Yaktrax, etc.) to make walking easier.
We will update weather and snow conditions as needed. The day before the program, watch for an email that will provide full information about where to park and meet for the walk. That email message will also update you on current snow conditions and whether or not snowshoes or other traction devices are recommended.
For adults and families with children ages seven and up.
Registration closes at 4:00 PM the day before the walk. If you register, but are unable to attend, please cancel your registration as space is limited and that will allow someone else to attend. Thank you!
