MIM 119: 10th November - Composing for the West End
Pippa Cleary is a trailblazing British composer and the first woman to have three musicals produced in the West End: The Great British Bake Off Musical, The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾ The Musical, and My Son’s a Queer (But What Can You Do?). She wrote the first original opening number for the 2023 Olivier Awards, performed by Hannah Waddingham, and her credits also include the animated musical Journey to the Christmas Star, In The Willows (UK Tour), and BBC’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
In addition to theatre, Pippa composes extensively for TV, film, and adverts, and runs her early years music venture, Pippa’s Poppets, combining creativity with education. Her work bridges stage and screen, earning acclaim for both storytelling and musical innovation.
