The second in our Photographer in Residence workshop series at Montcalm East, this programme offers guests and visitors the opportunity to develop their photography skills through a series of intimate, studio‑based workshops. Running across February and March, the sessions are designed to guide participants through both image creation and post‑production, with a strong focus on light, form, and creative technique.
Taking place in a dedicated studio setting, the workshops provide a hands‑on learning environment where participants can explore lighting, composition, and editing through guided demonstrations and practical exercises.
Tuesday 10th February – Sculpted in Light
10am to 1pm
This in‑studio workshop focuses on dramatic lighting techniques, including rim light, spotlighting, and shadow play. Participants will work with props and fabric to explore silhouette, posture, and sculptural form.
Friday 13th February – Valentine’s Workshop
10am to 1pm
A special Valentine’s edition of the studio workshop, continuing the exploration of mood and atmosphere through expressive lighting and composition.
Tuesday 10th March – Editing and Photoshop
10am to 1pm
This session focuses on post‑production, covering basic and advanced retouching workflows, creative use of layers and masks, colour correction, stylised grading, and combining images for artistic effects.
Participants are welcome to bring their own cameras and laptops with editing software; however, smartphones can also be used throughout the sessions.
