Calender...

Join us to explore the art of mindful lettering through this modern calligraphy workshop - a calming day of creativity and mindful focus.

In the workshop, you will learn the art of modern calligraphy using dip pens and ink, exploring how hand lettering can become an incredibly mindful and meditative practice. The session begins with an introduction to the tools and materials used for calligraphy before you move into linework, rhythm, and foundational shapes. From there, you will progress through letterforms, working through the alphabet and building confidence in linking letters into smooth, flowing words and compositions.

You can continue practicing and refining your technique, or, if you wish to explore further, you will discover how to introduce your own style, flourishes, and expression, developing the basics into something personal and unique. Throughout the day, you will be invited to work at your own pace (and with calligraphy, practice truly does make perfect).

By the end of the session, you will have created your own hand-lettered composition, perhaps a meaningful quote, phrase, or beautifully written name, to take home. Ideal for anyone seeking a calming, mindful, and creative day. No prior experience required.

Join us at The Coach House, Goodnestone Park, (open to all over 18, no experience needed) including tea, coffee, introductions, garden entry, a delicious lunch at the Old Dairy Café, and free onsite parking, with access requirements welcomed, contact us to discuss.

Once regularly visited by Jane Austen, Goodnestone Park carries a quiet literary charm that makes it an ideal setting for a mindful calligraphy workshop. Set within 15 acres of beautifully designed gardens, the estate blends elegant formality with peaceful woodland paths and wide, open views. The Walled Garden, reflective ponds, terraces, and sweeping lawns create a serene backdrop that naturally encourages presence and gentle focus. Throughout the grounds, quiet corners invite stillness—perfect for pausing, breathing, and absorbing the calming atmosphere before returning to the mindful rhythm of pen and ink. With its historic house, tranquil ambience, and ever-changing textures of light, colour, and scent, Goodnestone Park offers a nurturing landscape where participants can slow down, reconnect, and explore calligraphy in a space that feels both timeless and deeply restorative.
