Mini Bookcases for All Ages (Valentine's) workshop, Montgomery County, Md.

Yes, another mini bookcases workshop is on the calendar! We’d like to say we’re doing it for you, but really, we’re doing it for us: We can’t stop sharing this project, and we never get tired of seeing the endlessly creative ways that our community customizes these tiny nooks.

This time around, we’ll be offering Valentine’s Day embellishments, so make a bookcase as a gift, use it as holiday decor, or personalize it for your favorite romance reader (maybe that’s you!). We’ll also have plenty of options if you’re not a huge lover of Feb. 14 — commemorate some favorite reads or just create your dream reading nook.

At our December event, we welcomed book and miniature lovers of all ages (well, 7 and up), and we loved seeing families work on this project together. So let’s do that again this time — bring your favorite crafting buddy, regardless of age!

This workshop includes:

• A 5-by-5-inch bookcase ready for you to customize and embellish.
• Lots of tiny books! We’ll have some mini versions of actual books — contemporary and classic — and some with plain or patterned decorative covers.
• Miniature decorative items, including plenty of Valentine’s Day embellishments. If you’ve joined us before, we’ve been sourcing new items so come see what we’ve added.
• A buffet of supplies so you can customize your shelves; create items like potted plants or flowers in vases; or whatever else you can dream up to make your perfect space.
• Plus, you’re welcome to bring any tiny trinkets or photos to add your own touches.

This workshop is open to crafters ages 7 and up, but kids under 11 should be accompanied by an adult.
