ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Scenes are the building blocks of a story. In this workshop, we will discuss the essential elements of story structure. Using short texts as examples, we will focus on constructing dynamic scenes that will reveal your unique voice, grab a reader, and keep them engaged. We will look at how to write a strong opening, build sensory observation skills, incorporate dialogue through active listening, and avoid common pitfalls. Each class will include a writing exercise prompt and opportunities to engage with fellow attendees.
The workshop will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 26, through Friday, January 30, in the Loft at Bookstore1Sarasota. Registration is required. The workshop cost is $150 and includes all five sessions.
