A conversation on food, pleasure and rejecting diet culture, followed by a shared, fresh and seasonal, two-course Italian meal.

Join journalist Sophie Cockerham at Casa Italiana for a lively conversation with Giulia Crouch, food writer and author of The Happiest Diet in the World, as they explore how to eat well, enjoy your food, and push back against diet culture this January.

Giulia reflects on the Italian approach to eating that she learned from her grandparents, and how it contrasts with the current UK food culture, which often promotes restrictive and ultimately futile diets. She’ll share practical tips on how to reclaim the joy of eating – and mangiare bene!

After the talk, we’ll sit down to a communal meal of fresh, seasonal Italian dishes prepared by award-winning, British-Italian chef Brian Fantoni. Expect bouncy focaccia, pasta served family-style, and a dessert guaranteed to bring you joy.

Your ticket includes the talk, a welcome drink , and the two course meal. The menu will be vegetarian; due to the nature of the event, we’re unable to cater to individual dietary requirements. Feel free to come alone or with friends; seating is communal and unassigned.
