Making Better Wildlife Photographs - 1 hr.

In this presentation, Cecil shares his approach to wildlife photography, from finding and observing subjects in the field, to creating images that tell a story and highlight natural behavior. We’ll explore techniques for working with light, composition, and timing, as well as strategies for staying ethical and respectful in the field. I’ll also discuss practical tips for equipment and preparing for different environments. Whether you’re looking to refine your technical skills or gain new inspiration, this talk will help you see wildlife photography in fresh, creative ways.

Bio:

This is the part where I’m supposed to rattle off a list of awards I’ve won and publications I’ve been featured in, maybe even drop a few sponsor names, right? You've seen those bios. They all sound the same. But honestly, if you're here, I'd rather let my work speak for itself.

Every image you see here is the result of early mornings, late nights, and more than a few sleepless ones. It’s hours behind the lens and even more behind the keyboard. It’s more than a few gas station donuts and diet cokes. It’s chasing light, waiting on weather, and trying to tell a story through stillness. I pour everything I have into my photography, and I hope that shows. If you're the kind of person who really wants a resume of accomplishments, shoot me an email, and I’ll happily send one over.

As for me? I’m a self-taught photographer, born from a need to capture my son’s football games with more clarity than a cell phone could offer. What started as a way to freeze moments of childhood has evolved into a passion for documenting the wild places and creatures I’ve always loved. Photography gave me a reason to slow down, explore deeper, and appreciate the world through a different viewfinder.

I live in Huntsville, Alabama with my incredible wife and our four boys, the best crew a guy could ask for. They say you become like the people you spend the most time with. So either I made them awesome, or they made me. Either way, I’m grateful.
