Join our next Women's Institute meeting!

For our first meeting of 2026, we're delighted to welcome the brilliant team from our local Amnesty International Bookshop.

On Tuesday 6th January we'll hear from Beth and Rachel about what it takes to run the local Amnesty International Bookshop. This hidden gem in the heart of Kentish Town is a treasure trove of second-hand books, where the emphasis is on quality, value-for-money, and building community spirit. During this talk we’ll hear the stories behind the shelves and learn how the shop supports global human rights work and campaigns.

The first Amnesty ‘Bookshop’ began as a stall based in the Hammersmith & City Line tube station, run by Amnesty members Dick Langton and Christine Pain to raise funds for local campaigns. There are now ten second-hand bookshops around the country, each with its own unique personality and dedicated group of volunteers.
