Overview

This meditation workshop offers practical methods for dealing with our minds habit of obsessing over the past and the future. It explains how we can live our life more fully, creatively & happily by living more mindfully in the present.

With the overload of information & logistics of our contemporary lifestyle, as well as the emotional stress & alienation we often feel, learning the skill of keeping our mind in the present through meditation has never been more valuable!

Being present not only has great relaxational value; it gives us access to our own ‘natural intelligence’ or wisdom, which provides the confidence, courage & stability we need to meet our daily challenges successfully.

The mindful skills you develop in this workshop will help you:

  • Stay calmer & centered at work or at home when under stress
  • Understand why often the best way to get more done is to go slower
  • Take better care of your emotional & relational needs through meditation, bonding more closely with those you live & work with
  • Become responsive rather than reactive when making important decisions
  • Balance work & family life effectively

What you will learn

The workshop gives simple, practical methods that can be done for short periods during the day (5-15mins) that:

  • Calm the body, brain & nervous system, helping awareness of the body itself bring us back into the present moment
  • Understand why our mind often resists the present moment, & how we can let go of this resistance, relaxing into the flow of the now
  • Build your concentration like a muscle, giving you greater ability to keep focused on the present, even when under emotional stress
  • How to relax into a state of “timelessness” which, paradoxically enables you to keep centred and present even when the mind is busy & moving around all over the place

The Structure of the Workshop:

  • Short introductory talk, then meditation for relaxing the body, brain and nervous system. Then we will look at reasons why we often resist the present moment, & how to deal with this.
  • Exercise on overcoming your resistance to the present moment, building ability to remain focused in the here and now using your concentration.
  • Meditation on relaxing into a state of timelessness, or ‘eternal present’ enabling us to remain centred even when our mind remains busy and active. Talk on understanding the different types of present moment experience, how each one has a different role to play in helping us to lead a more deeply happy & fully present life.

You will also receive:

  • Extensive workshop notes giving full details of the meditation practices that are taught.
  • MP3 meditation recordings of the practices that we do in the workshop that you can take away and listen to as a support for your personal practice
