Drawing Room and Early Masterworks presents:
'The Decisive Line: Reimagining the Camera’s Gaze'
Early Masterworks' {Real Drawing is Thinking} experimental life drawing session is meant to bring photography and drawing together. As part of the current exhibition being hosted at Drawing Room, the session encourages participants to start "framing" the human body in new ways.
The session will revisit legendary photos in photography history that were inspired by artists and will continue to inspire generations of experimental creatives: the fractured perspectives of David Hockney, the motion blur of Gerhard Richter, and the surrealism of Man Ray, to name a few. The class will explore how these photographic visionaries conversed with painters like Francis Bacon, Giacomo Balla, Umberto Boccioni, Cristian Blanxer, Caravaggio, Degas, Jenny Saville and the Futurists.
Participants will be challenged to translate technical camera effects—shutter drag, film noir chiaroscuro, and distortion—into physical mark-making. Whether you are a photographer looking to deconstruct light or an artist seeking to break static habits, this session promises a fresh vantage point. Join us to reframe your perspective, and discover what happens when the "decisive moment" meets the drawn line.No previous experience in drawing or photography needed - come with curiosity and an open mind.Light drinks and snacks will be provided, alongside drawing materials. If you would like to use your own, please bring them in yourself.
