This workshop will focus on how to correctly chant the powerful Mahāmṛtyuñjaya mantra along with understanding its meaning and giving you a contextual introduction to vedic chanting. It is suitable for beginners or those who are looking to improve their existing practice.
Also known as “The great death conquering mantra” it is traditionally associated with Shiva (Śiva), the first yogi and the source from which yogic knowledge comes from. It is known as a mantra of healing, protection, and inner steadiness.
Rather than focusing on death, it dissolves fear and helps to support:
At Ancient Vibrations we teach mantras from India’s oldest spiritual texts: a vast body of Sanskrit poetry known as the Vedas. They are considered to be a divine revelation to the ṛṣi-s and ṛṣikās (Seers) of ancient India.
Vedic Chanting is bound by strict adherence to six rules:
Varṇa (pronunciation),
Svara (chanting notes),
Mātrā (duration)
Balam (force),
Sāma (continuity)
Santāna (conjugation, punctuation).
Adhyayanam is the process of study that involves repeating exactly as the teacher recites, this has preserved these rules for thousands of years.
Please note this authentic recitation (as taught by the living South Indian lineage) is registered by UNESCO as an endangered asset to humanity. Although there are other versions available on youtube, you will be learning the traditional and accurate method of chanting Mahāmṛtyuñjaya mantra - as it is was handed down centuries ago, and therefore preserving it’s purity and power.
At the end of the course you will:
Facilitated by Vedic Mantra Teacher Krupa, a dedicated student of a traditional living lineage in South India that upholds strict recitation standards to preserve the authentic sound of Vedic mantras. Guided by her mentors, Krupa continues her studies while also sharing this sacred practice through teaching and listening experiences.
