A two-day gathering dedicated to Korean art collecting, in conjunction with the exhibition Korean Treasures: Collected, Cherished, Shared.

Keynote and reception (in-person): Thursday, January 22, 2026: 6–8 p.m. EST

Symposium (in-person and livestreamed): Friday, January 23, 2026: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. EST


In conjunction with the exhibition Korean Treasures: Collected, Cherished, Shared, the Freer Research Center is hosting a two-day international gathering in Washington, DC, dedicated to Korean art collecting—both premodern and contemporary—in Korea and beyond. The symposium begins on the evening of January 22 with an in-person keynote lecture by Youngna Kim of Seoul National University, followed by a celebratory reception. On January 23, the program will continue with a full day of in-person and livestreamed talks and discussions.
