A mini escape into folk art: simple shapes, playful patterns, and your own Warli masterpiece.

About the Workshop

Jugalbandi is a 3-hour immersive Indian craft and storytelling experience designed to reconnect people with the joy of touch, tradition, and handmade creation.

In a time where screens and AI shape much of our everyday lives, this workshop offers a grounding, human-centred space to slow down and create with intention.

Through guided craft-making, cultural storytelling, and reflective prompts, participants will explore a traditional Indian art form while expressing their own personal narrative through patterns, lines, and symbols.

This is not just a workshop, it’s a shared cultural moment.

What You’ll Experience

🌿 1. Welcome & Grounding

We begin by settling into the space, understanding the spirit of the craft, and creating an atmosphere of calm, connection, and cultural appreciation.

🧵 2. Introductions Through Stories

Participants are invited to share a simple memory from childhood, home, festivals, or handmade traditions, setting the tone for storytelling through craft.

🎨 3. Understanding the Craft

You’ll discover:

  • The origins of the art form
  • Its cultural and historical significance
  • The meaning behind traditional symbols and motifs
  • Materials used by artisans

You’ll have the opportunity to see, touch, and understand the craft before beginning your own piece.

✍️ 4. Demonstration & Technique

A step-by-step guided demonstration covers basic patterns, figures, and motifs.
This session is completely beginner-friendly, no prior experience required.

✨ 5. Crafting Your Own Story

The heart of Jugalbandi.

You’ll create your own artwork inspired by a theme that resonates with you, such as:

  • A memory from home
  • A festival or celebration
  • A personal moment
  • A symbol of identity
  • A story you wish to preserve

Soft music, a meditative environment, and one-to-one guidance support you throughout the process.

🫶 6. Sharing Circle (Optional)

Participants may choose to share the story behind their artwork.
This moment often transforms the workshop from craft-making into connection-making.

🌸 7. Closing Reflection & Takeaway

We close with a reflection on the value of handmade traditions in a tech-driven world, honour the artisans who keep these crafts alive, and leave you with a meaningful piece of art to take home.
