BROOKLYN, NY — Johnny Cash fans, revelers, and devotees of authentic country-infused rock-and-roll are invited to the Johnny Cash Birthday Bash, a beloved Brooklyn tradition celebrating the Man in Black on Friday, February 27, 2026 at littlefield (635 Sackett Street, Brooklyn, NY). Doors open 8 PM, with music starting at 9 PM.

Now in its 20th consecutive year, the annual Johnny Cash Birthday Bash has been “warming Brooklyn toes since 2005,” with sold-out shows across iconic venues like Southpaw, The Bell House, and littlefield — becoming a signature winter highlight in New York City’s live music calendar.

This year’s edition boasts a special lineup of musical talent and historically rich programming:

• Old-Time Musicians Open the Night
The Calmity Janes, an ensemble of old-time musicians will kick things off with Carter Family era fiddle tunes, paying homage to the roots of classic country music and the influences that shaped Johnny Cash’s sound.

• Alex Battles & The Whisky Rebellion — Full Tribute Set
Brooklyn songwriter and bandleader Alex Battles returns with his rollicking roots outfit, The Whisky Rebellion, performing an expansive set of Cash classics, deep cuts, and fan favorites. Battles — a cornerstone of this annual bash — has helmed the celebration since its early days and helped grow it into one of the city’s most cherished live music traditions.

• Special Guest Performance — Kandia Crazy Horse
Joining Battles onstage will be Kandia Crazy Horse, acclaimed country musician, rock critic, and author associated with Cactus Rose NYC. Crazy Horse will deliver drums from the “Bitter Tears” album material, adding a powerful rhythmic backbone to the evening’s tribute. Her artistic career spans music performance and pioneering work in documenting Black contributions to rock and country music.

• Comedy, Music & Duets — Featuring Linda Hill
San Francisco and New York-based comedienne and performer Linda Hill — known for her character work, including the blues-y Miss Angel Drake, and a notable presence in alternative comedy and downtown theatre scenes — joins the stage not just to entertain, but to sing the iconic June Carter duets with Alex Battles. Hill’s multifaceted career bridges comedy, character performance, and musical homage, earning her recognition across stages from Joe’s Pub to New York underground venues.

From the Carter Family era tunes to powerhouse duets and tributes to Cash’s deep catalog, the 2026 Birthday Bash honors not only Johnny’s legacy but also the spirited musical communities that keep his fire burning.

• DJ Mikey Palms
Before and after the live performances, DJ Mikey Palms of Southpaw fame will spin roots, Biggie, rockabilly, and classic Cash-inspired selections to set the tone and keep the party going.
