
Join Rory Fraser, author of a forthcoming narrative biography on Vanbrugh for William Collins, and Georgian Group Director Dr Anya Lucas in conversation about the life and times of Sir John Vanbrugh (1664-1726). A variety of events marking the tercentenary of his death will be presented by the Georgian Group across the UK in 2026. This will be the first event of Vanbrugh 300.
Rory Fraser is a historian, podcaster, presenter and painter. After studying English at Oxford, Rory's first book, that he also illustrated, was Follies: An Architectural Journey (2020). Rory gained an MPhil in Art and Architectural History at Cambridge on the English Baroque and its relationship with the Mughal Empire. He now divides his time between writing, co-hosting the Country House Podcast, and drawing commissions.
Dr Anya Lucas is Director of The Georgian Group. She holds a PhD in architectural history from the Courtauld Institute and her research on British architecture of the long eighteenth century has been published in both mainstream and academic books and articles. She is joint author of The Livery Halls of the City of London published by Merrell on behalf of the Architects’ Company.
