The authors of Lynchian : The Spell of David Lynch and David Lynch : His Work, His World discuss the late filmmaker's life and legacy

Doors at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start

How's this for a dream: we have not one but TWO bonafide experts with us to discuss the life, legacy, and quiff of David Lynch! Tom Huddleston, author of David Lynch : His Work, His World and John Higgs, he of Lynchian : The Spell of David Lynch, will be here talking all things DL (except maybe Dune (more's the pity))

Tom's David Lynch : His Work, His World is in-depth, richly illustrated exploration of the work and life of cinema and TV’s greatest cult creator. Published in a lavish, slip-cased edition, David Lynch: His Work, His World covers all aspects of this truly eclectic output while also exploring Lynch’s many influences to tell the full story of how he worked, created, thought and lived.

John's Lynchian: The Spell of David Lynch considers the man and his legacy through a personal, first-person lens. Why does his work affect people so deeply? Why do some find it haunting and unforgettable while others dismiss it as meaningless? Answering that question takes us into the strange realms of psychology, art and theology. We will discover why ambiguity and mystery are so seductive, how Lynch's creative and meditative practices overlapped and why a director whose work contains so much abuse of women has such a female-skewing fanbase.

Tom Huddleston is the author of numerous fiction and non-fiction books for children and adults including The Worlds of George RR Martin, The Worlds of Dune, Star Wars Cinematic Classics and the acclaimed FloodWorld trilogy. He also spent almost a decade on the Film desk at Time Out magazine, and write freelance film and TV journalism for publications including The Guardian and Little White Lies.

John Higgs is a writer who specialises in finding previously unsuspected narratives, hidden in obscure corners of our history and culture, which can change the way we see the world. His previous books include The KLF: Chaos, Magic and the Band who Burned a Million Pounds, William Blake Vs The World, and Love and Let Die : Bond, the Beatles and the British Psyche.
