Music-at-Hill Concert Society is pleased to host a special Friday lunchtime recital at Holy Sepulchre Holborn (the National Musicians' Church), when we mark the 400th anniversary of the Renaissance composer John Dowland.
The exact date of Dowland’s death is unknown, but he was buried on 20 February 1626 at St Ann’s Blackfriars, so on this actual quadricentenary day, we shall welcome the countertenor David Yardley and lutenist Augustin Cornwall-Irving to give us an atmospheric programme of Dowland’s works alongside those of his contemporaries Campion and Morley.
The church is 5 minutes walk from Farringdon Interchange and directly opposite the northern exit of City Thameslink station, with St Bartholomew's Hospital and the Old Bailey close by.
Free admission with retiring collection; light refreshments (coffee/tea/biscuits) are available both before and after the performance. Do join us, and you'll receive a warm welcome from our audience regulars!
