INTRODUCTION TO SWAMP WALK WITH TRAM TOUR
Our experienced guides share their knowledge and insights about the Fakahatchee Preserve’s flora and fauna on both wet and dry portions of the adventure. The Fakahatchee is the largest state park and home to protected and endangered wildlife.
This offering combines elements of the rolling lecture of our tram tour with an introductory swamp walk to give participants a taste of the real Fakahatchee. It is especially tailored for folks who have been procrastinating about going on a swamp walk.
This tour begins with an interpretive ride on the Friends’ Ghost Rider Tram to the site of the swamp walk where the guide leads you on a ONE hour swamp walk (approx.). Following the swamp walk, participants board the tram for the return trip.
The Introduction to swamp walk is from 9:30 to 1:30. As with all tours in the park, end time is approximate and the tour will not be cut short for folks who plan to leave the park exactly at 1:30 sharp.
Participants are required to wear secure, closed toe shoes (no sandals) and long pants. Long sleeve shirts are recommended. You will be provided with walking sticks to keep your balance in the swamp.
Yes, you can change into dry clothes at the parks’ restrooms.
Participants will receive arrival instructions the day before the tour.
The tram leaves at the visitor center of the main entrance of the park located at the corner of Janes Memorial Scenic Drive and 137 Coastline Drive, in Copeland.
