Join us for a conversation on the power of self-perception and the ongoing struggle for agency and justice in the carceral space.

Inside Out: Dignity and the Art of Seeing Artist Talk

Join us in person for an inspiring chat with the artists behind Inside Out: Dignity and the Art of Seeing. The panel discussion will feature Ghia Ridley Hobbs, WBR Empowerment Legacy Foundation, Inc., Nicole Porter, The Sentencing Project, and photographers Beverly Price, Karen Ruckman, and Bernard Seaborn. Their work extends the exhibition’s central themes—the necessity of respect, the power of self-perception, and the ongoing struggle for agency and justice—into contemporary conversations about surveillance, public space, and the carceral state.

Inside Out: Dignity and the Art of Seeing is more than an exhibition; it is a telling of a counter-narrative that surrounds incarceration in the United States. By foregrounding the perspectives of incarcerated image-makers, the project urges viewers to look beyond walls, bars, and headlines to confront the human stories that persist within and against them. These images ask: Who gets to tell the story, and how can institutions, artists, and communities make space for every voice to be seen, respected, and heard?
