This workshop is aimed at improving beginners and beyond. It uses the UK chain, half treble, treble and double treble crochet stitches. Boost your confidence and learn how to read patterns and charts.
To participate in this class you should be able to do UK treble or double crochet confidently - we will learn the rest of the stitches in the workshop.
You will receive a pattern, notes and refreshment. You will need to bring your own yarn and hook.
Please bring:
100-200g of Double knit yarn and a 5mm hook
Or
100-200g of Aran weight yarn and a 6mm hook
1x100g ball will make a small neckerchief style scarf, bring 150-200g for a larger shawl. Chose a regular yarn (wool or acrylic) with no novelty textures. Do not choose black yarn as you will not be able to see your stitches. Solid or marled colours work great or bring 2 balls to make stripes. This class is also ideal for a multicolour yarn with a long stripe.
We will use the Etto scarf pattern, designed by Fiona. It is a wide triangular shape which can be worn as a light neckerchief in spring or summer, and fits neatly under a coat in the autumn and winter. Choose to tie it at the neck, fix it with a shawl pin or add buttons to secure the ends. As the scarf is worked from the bottom tip up, the triangular shape is there from the very beginning so you can continue with confidence at home and work until your scarf is your desired size.
