I Board! - Women and Girls Lead and Learn Snowboarding at Theodore Wirth

Winter Thursday nights at Theodore Wirth Park are the most exciting nights of the week. Girls Ages 8-14 will be taught to snowboard by community members supported by professionals in the community of Theodore Wirth Park. All equipment and coaching are provided free of charge. The girls will be led through a progression aligned with AASI Certification Standards and modified to maximize the positive emotional experiences of the riders regardless of the level of skill obtained each week. Historically, 100% of participants who participate in four or more sessions achieve the fundamentals by the end of the program. Helmets will be provided.

In 2024/25, MIM will launch an opportunity for competitive girls' snowboarding. Interested participants will be competing in USASA regional events in Minnesota. Several participants are in their third year of lessons or coaching for Melanin In Motion. This program will be available to anyone who wants to experience competition. The I Board program is FREE, and there is an additional fee for competitive event registrations if this is a desire - scholarships are available.
