For more than a dozen years, The Rossini Club, with its summer home on Nantucket, has been winning acclaim for its innovative, thematic programs linking historic classical music to new and modern compositions. The group will bring another of its notable performances to the sanctuary of the Federated Church of Hyannis, presented by Hyannis Arts Hall, on Sunday, March 15, at 2 pm,
This Hyannis concert Electric Dreams explores tradition and modern innovations expressed when electronics meet an acoustic genre, and how composers embrace and echo sounds created by electronic elements. This curated concert features music by composers Saariaho, Tanaka and Lang, “in contrast and conversation” with Brahm’s beloved clarinet trio. Works to be performed include Oi kuu, by Kaija Saariaho; Trio for Clarinet, Cello & Piano Op. 114, by Brahms; Techno-Etudes, by Karen Tanaka; and Monadologie XXVII (Brahms Variations), by Bernhard Lang
The Rossini Club creates accessible, interactive, and memorable performances by accomplished artists, each a rising professional in leading regional orchestras, chamber music groups, and as soloists in venues across the U.S. and abroad. With a changing roster of musicians, the group is overseen by founder and artistic director Nick Davies, a clarinetist with the Colorado Symphony and a frequent guest musician and soloist. “Through thoughtful and evocative programming, we strive to create experiences that inspire, challenge, and celebrate the vitality of the arts,” says Davies.
