A candlelit concert of romance, virtuosity and song.
This duo programme brings together the lyrical warmth of the violin and the intricate delicacy of the guitar — two of Paganini’s most beloved instruments. Inspired by the intimacy of salon music and the fire of 19th-century Italy, this concert features original works by Niccolò Paganini as well as other Romantic gems. From dazzling pyrotechnics to whispered serenades, the violin and guitar blend into a conversation of charm, passion and colour.

PERFORMERS
Victor Caparnagiu (violin)Victor Caparnagiu was born in Romania and started playing violin at the age of 6, having already developed a love for violin from the influence of his grandfather who was himself a violinist. During his teenage years, he lived in Spain following the conservatoire route, after which he moved to London to finish his undergraduate studies in performance with teachers Boris Brovtsyn and Lana Trotovtsek.
His artistry has been honed in masterclasses by virtuoso violinists such as Michael Bochmann, John Crawford, Ofer Falk, Mayumi Fujikawa, Mauro Rossi, Yaron Thaub, Mirabai Weismehl and Rivka Golani.
He plays regularly with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra.
Evan Dim (guitar)
Evan Dim is an exciting guitarist who has begun making a name for himself in
London’s West End theatre district. At 25, his career has already been remarkably
varied, thanks to his fluency in numerous musical styles. At 18, he began his studies as a scholarship recipient at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, then ranked among the top three performing arts schools in the world. There, he honed his skills as a classical musician, performing for distinguished audiences including (then) HRH Prince Charles and the Duke of Buccleuch.
The St. Catharines Standard in Canada later featured him in an article titled
“Evan Dim Plays His Guitar on the World Stage,” in which the publication discussed
his royal performance and the promising early career of a young musician from a small town in Canada making his mark abroad.
Evan continued to build on his success, receiving the 2019 Musician’s Company
Award in London after competing at one of England’s most prestigious venues,
Wigmore Hall. He later went on to win the North East Classical Guitar Society Award, record Concierto de Aranjuez with orchestra alongside the assistant conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and was invited to perform and teach masterclasses in Slovenia.
Upon completing his studies, Evan was booked by a UK agency to perform
electric guitar alongside prominent UK entertainers, including X Factor winners Joe
McElderry (2008) and Matt Terry (2016), West End star Alice Fearn, La Voix, and more. This new career path led him to move to London and pursue theatre full-time.
In his spare time, Evan writes music with Guys and Dolls star and Lord of the Rings actor Andrew Richardson.
