Handel’s Messiah is still one of the most beloved oratorios in the repertoire, nearly three centuries after its creation. It was originally an Easter offering, drawing on English biblical texts compiled by Charles Jennens, and was first performed in Dublin in 1742. A telling of the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, it comprises a thrilling mix of majestic choruses and beautiful arias.
In this performance of selected highlights* from the full work, Brunswick Vocal Arts presents four vocal stars of the future in the solo parts.
Soprano - Beatriz Volante
Alto - Lily Mo Browne
Tenor - Samuel Downes
Bass - Peter Lidbetter
The Orchestra and Chorus of Brunswick Vocal Arts will be conducted by Gary Matthewman.
(*Those texts not being sung in this concert will be read as a linking narrative, in English, between musical items.)
