Going South – Grenada to Uruguay, Sandy Duker
Brian and Sandy sailed thousands of miles together, starting in 1979 on the muddy east coast of the UK in a 29-footer. The boats gradually got bigger until their final boat, Moonshadow Star 2, was a Farr 56 built in 2002, which crossed the Atlantic a few times. On their second visit to the Caribbean Brian and Sandy agreed it was time to sail further and broaden their horizons. Unusually, they decided against going through the Panama Canal and the inevitable ‘Pacific Milk Run’ and instead turned south to Uruguay. This is the story of their trip.
