18andcounting will be performing an epic 2 hour set intended to move your mind into a flow state. Unlike a traditional concert, this event allows you space to create during the show! Participants will be surrounded by art supplies and vast rolls of paper to use the energy from the music and channel it into art.
Stan Chisholm is a prolific visual artist and musician who has the unique insight required to use his music to influence the visual art of everyone in the room. Two hours of curated flow. Push your creativity outside yourself and pull from the energy of the music and the artists around you. See what happens when you stop thinking and start going with the flow.
Whether you are a working artist looking to have an excuse to create for pleasure (instead of just for the next gig) or someone who rarely makes visual art, everyone has a seat at this table! This is a judgement-free space. Create in the moment. Dance with your pen to a live music performance.
Go With the Flow is a monthly meet up for artists of all levels to come together to draw on communal tables and enjoy a performance from local musicians. This event has been hosted at Screwed Arts Collective, Contemporary Art Museum, and St. Louis Earthday Festival. It is funded by a 2025 grant from Regional Arts Commission and made possible at this location through ARPA for the Arts funding.
Created, facilitated, and curated by artist Amata Doods, this event is an invitation to all to feel the empowerment and joy of making art in the moment. There's no pressure to perform in any particular way, there's no hierarchy on the tables between artists of different levels, and there's always space for folks that might struggle with being in crowds or with small talk. Drawing can be powerfully therapeutic. Join a group of folks willing to try something different and leave with a renewed sense of appreciation for what you are capable of.
Light refreshments will be available at the event.
