Kindred gives money and support to socially trading organisations (STOs) who are based in Liverpool City Region. Kindred's money is offered at 0% interest to enable socially-trading organisations (STO's) to grow their impact. Money is usually repaid over a 5-10 year period but this varies between organisations.
In a nutshell, STOs are organisations with social purpose, that are sustainable (or on the path to sustainability) through trading – usually through selling either goods or services. These organisations are often - but not exclusively - CICs (community interest companies) but can also be charities and some limited companies. Please note that Kindred does not fund individuals.
The money Kindred provides is repayable (at 0% interest), not a grant. This is why you need to be trading to be eligible. Note that grant funding can also count as an element of trade if it enables delivery of your products and services. Generally, STOs will repay around 80% of their investment in money and 20% in ‘social impact returns’ – but that varies between organisations.
