Boston Marathon Take 2
I am very grateful to have the opportunity to run for Mass General for a second consecutive year at Boston. It was a no brainer to run this back to raise over $10,500 and attempt to run a great time. Here is the story:
As some of you know, Sharla Sieve was essentially my second mother. She unfortunately passed December 7th of 2022 from Stage IV Metastatic Colorectal Cancer and everything I've ever accomplished since that point has been in her honor.
Sharla's youngest daughter, Olivia, created a fundraiser before she passed; the goal of the fundraiser was to help support a new program at MGH to make Hepatic Arterial Infusions available. 2 times a month for the last year before she passed, Sharla had to travel to New York just to get the care she needed.
The fundraiser raised over $123,000 as of late October '24.
I ran my first marathon in May 2024 and broke 3:30. That following summer, my mind shifted to thinking of Sharla and Mass General.
I ran Boston last year and at Mile 17, I suffered a calf strain and could barely move by Mile 21 at BC. I truly believe that the only reason I finished was because she was watching over me. It was the worst pain I've ever felt in my life and could barely walk for the following weeks.
In Chicago this past Columbus Day weekend, I ran a 3:28 and it felt really good to know that this time at a major was always in me with a fair chance. Now, we are here running a 4th marathon in 2 years
I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to represent Mass General and my second family, the Sieves, again. Please donate anything that you can, and continue to see the good for her. THANK YOU
