This small-group workshop is your chance to dive into the drama of black & white photography – right in the vibrant heart of Leeds.

From grand architecture to bustling streets and quiet corners, we’ll wander the city with cameras in hand, chasing light, shadow, and story. Whether you’re shooting on a DSLR, mirrorless, or just your phone – you’ll learn how to see in mono, compose creatively, and make the most of tone and texture.

What to Expect:

• A guided photo walk with composition tips & live challenges
• Black & white storytelling techniques
• Optional one-on-one support as we go
• Built-in time to reflect, experiment, and really look

Example Route

• Leeds Town Hall – grand steps and sweeping lines
• Park Square – Georgian charm and leafy calm
• City Square – statues, streets and urban energy
• Corn Exchange – curves, textures and striking detail
• Leeds Kirkgate Market – character, bustle and contrast

  (We’ll be walking at a gentle pace and stopping regularly to shoot.)

You’ll Learn:

• How to ‘see’ light, shadow and contrast in busy urban spaces
• Techniques for strong B&W compositions
• Ways to shoot movement, reflections and architecture
• Tips for capturing mood, grit, and atmosphere

What to Bring:

• A camera (DSLR/mirrorless/film/phone – anything goes!)
• A charged battery & space on your memory card
• Weather-appropriate clothes – it’s Yorkshire, after all
• Curiosity, creativity & maybe a spare lens if you fancy
