The FIU Symphony Orchestra presents Concerto Competition Winners Concert featuring soprano Amalia Rosales Sacasas and pianist Sergio Acelas.

Experience an evening of musical brilliance with the FIU Symphony Orchestra as they present the Concerto Competition Winners Concert. Led by the esteemed conductor Javier Jose Mendoza, this exceptional event highlights the remarkable talents of FIU’s finest student musicians, including the top performers from this year’s Concerto Competition, in a program of classical masterpieces.

This year’s winners represent both instrumental and vocal excellence. Soprano Amalia Rosales Sacasas will perform “In furore iustissimae irae” by Antonio Vivaldi, a Baroque aria known for its expressive contrasts and clarity of style. Pianist Sergio Acelas will perform Sergei Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C major, Op. 26, a cornerstone of the 20th-century piano repertoire recognized for its rhythmic vitality and colorful orchestration.

Together, these performances reflect the high level of musical training and artistic development at The Wertheim, while highlighting the collaborative artistry between soloists and orchestra. Join us for an extraordinary night as the FIU Symphony Orchestra brings these masterpieces to life, celebrating the exceptional artistry of our competition winners.
