
Calling all early risers! Bundle up and start the first day of 2026 watching the sunrise over the open waters and sand spits of Morris Island. Then take a 1-1.5 mile guided hike looking for winter birds and other wildlife.
Registration is free, but donations to Friends of Monomoy are gladly accepted.
The Chatham Conservation Foundation joins other Cape conservation groups in #FirstDayHikesCapeCod on January 1, 2026. Building on the popularity of the national state park program originally launched in Massachusetts, this regional celebration features free special walks, talks, and hikes in communities across Cape Cod providing a range of opportunities for families, children, residents, and visitors to get outside and explore on the first day of the new year.
