
Terryl Givens is a prominent scholar of literature, religion, and Mormon studies, currently serving as a senior research fellow at the Maxwell Institute of Religious Scholarship at BYU. He previously taught for three decades at the University of Richmond, where he held the James A. Bostwick Chair of English and was Professor of Literature and Religion.
Brother Givens is widely recognized for his work in literary theory, British and European Romanticism, Mormon studies, and intellectual history. He has authored or edited many books, notably "By the Hand of Mormon: The American Scripture That Launched a New World Religion," "People of Paradox: A History of Mormon Culture," and "Wrestling the Angel: The Foundations of Mormon Thought," many of which have been praised by publications such as The New York Times and the Mormon History Association.
