Explore systems change, capitalism and wellbeing through Post-growth and MM environmentalism; open to all regardless of race and religion!

A collaboration between PostGrowthSG, Lepak Conversations and FiTree, join us for a screening of ‘Fairytales of Growth’ (with blessings from the Director himself, Pierre Smith Khanna!), and discussion of systems change, capitalism and wellbeing through the concept of Post-growth and Malay/Muslim teachings on environmentalism.

Open to all, regardless of race and religion!

About Fairytales of Growth

The effects and risks of climate change are compelling young people around the world to call upon radical system change as the only solution to avoid a catastrophic collapse.

The documentary Fairytales of Growth looks at the role economic growth has had in bringing about this crisis, and explores the alternatives to it, offering a vision of hope for the future and a better life for all within planetary boundaries.

Featuring Greta Thunberg, Jason Hickel, LaDonna Brave Bull Allard, Wendy Harcourt, Giorgos Kallis, Marta Conde, Alnoor Ladha, Filka Sekulova, Federico Demaria, Rupert Read, Tokata Iron Eyes, and Maria Marcet.

What is Growth and Post-growth?

Growth is a mindset that defines progress as economic growth, and pursues it at any cost

Post-growth is the hypothesis that to avoid climate catastrophe we must prioritise people, the environment and care over economic growth

About Lepak Conversations

Lepak Conversations is a non-profit that facilitates inclusive dialogue on Malay/Muslim issues through educational content on Instagram and offline community events. It also seeks to build allyship between people in Singapore with Malay/Muslims, thereby encouraging racial harmony.

About PostGrowthSG

Post-Growth Singapore is a community exploring post-growth ideals and principles in the context of Singapore.

Post-growth is an alternative to the capitalist status quo of limitless growth -- where growth is reimagined, and everyone is empowered to seek and access greater dignity and well-being, on their terms, and whilst causing less destruction to our planet.

We encourage collective learning through a Telegram community and organise ad-hoc workshops (i.e. Post Growth Circles) and film screenings around once every 1-2 months. For each Circle, we facilitate thematic group discussions and/or feature sharings from expert guest speakers. Stay tuned to our latest events via our Telegram group and Instagram page, and come be a part of our community & our learning journey! :)

About FiTree

FiTree is an advocacy group that works with the Singapore Muslim community with the intention of returning to our Fitrah (natural state) as true Khalifah fil Ardh (Stewards of the Earth). Over the past decade, we've organised immersive walks in nature, human story circles, film screenings, knowledge sharing sessions, and water-conserving wudhu (ablution) campaigns at mosques.

We are a 100% voluntary non-profit group, and as we grow, we are always on the lookout for more volunteers and new collaborations. Connect with us at greenfitree@gmail.com.
