The Rhythm, The Touch, The Heart is a pop-up exhibition showcasing the work of London-based artists Ikesha Avo and Leanne Ingram. Both artists are early in their careers and meander through depicting reflections of heritage, revisiting traditions, and engaging with the sensibilities and unique histories of their respective Caribbean cultures.
The exhibition brings together a selection of new works created specifically for the show alongside a curated presentation of past pieces. Art pieces and a limited range of prints will also be available for purchase.
Ikesha Avo’s practice explores lineage and how it moves across time and shifting environments. Her work increasingly deconstructs and reimagines cultural practices—such as rituals surrounding grief—in a way disentangled from tradition. Drawing from personal archives, music, film, and imagination, Avo creates layered narratives that engage various ways of observing and remembering.
Leanne Ingram is an emerging visual artist, who draws inspiration from her Caribbean heritage and British upbringing. Themes within Leanne Ingram's work include colourism, racism, the multifaceted experience of an immigrant and the brutal and complicated relationship between the West and the African diaspora.
