Louisiana's Old State Capitol is excited to invite you to the unveiling of our newest travelling exhibition: Present Day Traces of Segregation, Civil Rights, and Collective Memory in Louisiana, presented by the Louisiana Photographic Society.
This exhibit is a journey that the Louisiana Photographic Society has been on for more than two years, aiming to capture present-day images that memorialize the laws, codes, places, and practices that excluded Black people. This collection of photos and stories honors the Louisianians that forever changed our state and country.
This exhibit features over 75 images on sites of segregation, Civil Rights, and memory in Louisiana.
Join us in celebrating those who have altered the course of history for the better, and the ones today who do the hard work of preserving those stories and memories.
