Have you ever noticed that your child react the same way in certain situations?
Maybe they:
• Get frustrated quickly
• Shut down when upset
• Worry before something even happens
• Feel hurt but act angry
• Say “I don’t care” when you actually do
These are called emotional habits. They are patterns our brain learns over time.
And the good news is, once we understand our patterns, we can choose better responses.
This workshop helps children begin to recognise:
• Their common emotional reactions
• The thoughts that show up automatically
• How feelings affect behaviour
• The difference between reacting and responding
• How to pause and make safer choices
We introduce the simple and powerful idea:
Thoughts → Feelings → Actions
Children will learn that their reactions are not random. They follow patterns. And patterns can be understood.
This session builds:
• Emotional awareness
• Metacognition, learning to notice their own thinking
• Self-regulation skills
• Greater confidence in handling difficult emotions
• Healthier decision-making
This is a foundational skill for friendships, school challenges and growing independence.
Children will:
• Map out a common emotional reaction
• Explore “What was I thinking?”
• Identify body signals that show up early
• Learn how to interrupt automatic reactions
• Practise simple regulation strategies
• Create a personal Emotional Habit Reflection Card
The session is interactive, structured and psychologically safe.
Children aged 8 and above who:
• React strongly to certain situations
• Feel confused by their own emotions
• Want to better understand themselves
• Would benefit from stronger emotional regulation skills
No prior experience with emotional learning is required.
