Reimagine historic brooches through creative stitch in this hands-on workshop.
We’re delighted to welcome Nikkita Morgan, a textile artist and educator whose work blends traditional craft and contemporary processes to tell layered stories through embroidery, printmaking, and digital techniques.
Whilst these workshops are offered on a Pay as you can basis, we do have to ask for a minimum contribution of £10 to reserve your spot. More information about the Pay as you can system, regular workshop costs and more, if you scroll down.
Join us for a creative embroidery workshop inspired by the brooches in Groam House Museum’s collection. Together, we’ll explore two remarkable pieces: a Victorian silver annular brooch set with moss agates (1873) and a Celtic Revival brooch by Alexander Ritchie (1930–31).
Using their circular forms, decorative motifs, and textures as inspiration, you’ll design and stitch your own small textile piece. Rather than replicating the originals, you’ll experiment with colour, stitch, and texture to reimagine these objects in fresh and imaginative ways.
All materials provided – and no previous embroidery experience required.
We believe everyone should have the chance to learn and create — which is why these workshops are offered on a Pay What You Can basis.
