Learn how to help dyslexic students succeed at "Dyslexia Through the Multilingual Learners Lens" event on February 28, 2026, at 9:00 AM!

This is a District Sponsored Training only avialable to White Pine Elementary Empoyees

We will examine dyslexia and the reading brain. Participants will learn how the brain acquires reading skills, what SoR is (and isn’t), and how it provides a universal framework for literacy, challenging the misconception that it’s only for native speakers. This session addresses the dual challenges of learning to read while mastering a new language and equips attendees with evidence-based strategies to create inclusive practices to enhance reading instruction for ALL students.

Training Objectives:

· Understand the characteristics of dyslexia and its impact on reading development.

· Learn how the brain processes information during reading acquisition.

· Define the Science of Reading - including its principles and misconceptions - and the pedagogical approaches to teaching literacy that meet the specific needs of dyslexic and multilingual learners.

· Identify the additional support English learners need to develop literacy skills in English while simultaneously building their oral language skills.

Upon completion of this class and course requirements, you may earn 1 credit through ISU for $55.00.
