The heartbeat of the drum is the heartbeat of our Mother Earth. It reminds us that we are never separate — that our pulse, our breath, and our prayers travel together through time and lineage.
In this powerful Handcrafted Drum Making Workshop, you will be guided to create more than an instrument — you will birth a living ally, a sacred being woven with your intention, your breath, and your ancestral memory.
Drumming has long been used by medicine people, healers, and shamans across the world to deepen meditation and spiritual connection. After 12–14 minutes of rhythmic drumming, the steady beat naturally assists you to shift into other brain wave states — these altered states of consciousness are conducive to dreams, deep intuition, and spiritual journeying. Within this space, the veil between worlds softens, allowing your spirit to listen and receive guidance.
Led by Indigenous Artist and Healer Kristina Nez Begay, an award-winning Dine’ (Navajo) drum maker, this class goes far beyond the mechanics of a standard craft workshop. Kristina carries her medicine teachings with reverence, ensuring that each drum is born in right relationship — through ceremony, gratitude and blessing.
You will begin with a drum journey, calling upon your guides and ancestors to infuse your creation with meaning and medicine.
As you create your 15” hand drum and beater, you will be shown how to breathe life into your work — using intention, prayer, and connection to honor the spirit of the animal whose hide you select.
By the end, you will leave with your own work of art, imbued with your prayers, ancestors, and the vibration of your own healing. It is not simply a drum — it is your medicine, your voice, and your connection to the Great Song of Life.
This workshop asks for presence, patience, and openness.

This experience runs concurrently with Wellness Within 2026 and is designed to stand alone as a deeply meaningful, embodied offering — while still allowing participants to engage with the larger event.
