A short session on drug and alcohol awareness for those in Birmingham who work in health and social care.

Drug and Alcohol Awareness

Join us at Lonsdale House for a short, interactive session focused on drug and alcohol awareness.
This session explores how substances can affect people, ways to reduce harm, how to recognise when someone may need extra support, and what Change Grow Live (CGL) Birmingham offers.

We’ll explore:

  • Signs someone may be experiencing difficulties
  • Drug families, effects and examples
  • Nitazenes – what they are and why they matter
  • Physical health impacts
  • Alcohol – understanding its effects
  • Emerging drug trends
  • Who Change Grow Live are and the support we offer in Birmingham

The session is packed with information, alongside activities and comfort breaks – it’s definitely not a nap in front of a PowerPoint!

This session isn’t designed to train you to become a substance use specialist. Instead, it aims to share up-to-date information, build confidence, and support you in having informed, compassionate conversations with people who may be experiencing substance-related harm.

If you have any questions or concerns, please read the FAQ below or feel free to message me directly.

If you work with people who may be affected by drug or alcohol use, follow our Eventbrite page for upcoming free courses, lunch & learns, and webinars.
We also offer free naloxone (overdose awareness) training, with kits provided.

This course is for health and social care workers, volunteers, or professionals working in Birmingham only. If you’re outside Birmingham, please contact your local services for training.
