๐ Practical information:
We will meet in Shiva in Tara Yoga Centre.
Common Ground Between Traditional Thai Head Massage & Ayurvedic Head Massage: Ayurvedic head massage is more oil-based, nurturing, and medicinal, while Thai head massage is more energetic, pressure-point and movement-based.
Ancient Roots: Both are centuries-old healing arts rooted in traditional medicine systems. Thai massage is influenced by Ayurveda, Buddhism and Chinese medicine, while Ayurvedic massage is integral to the Vedic tradition of India.
Holistic Philosophy: Both see the body, mind and spirit as interconnected, aiming not only to ease physical tension but also to restore balance and vital energy (prana in Ayurveda, lom/energy lines in Thai tradition).
Focus on the Head & Upper Body: Both prioritise the head, scalp, neck and shoulders, areas that hold stress, mental tension and energetic blockages.
Touch & Pressure Techniques: Both use rhythmic pressure, massage strokes, and stimulation of energy points to release stagnation and improve circulation.
Healing Props: Oils are central in Ayurveda. Thai head massage may use oils too, but sometimes works dry, with focus on pressure points, stretches and energy lines.
Relaxation & Energy Flow: Both promote relaxation, nervous system regulation, and enhanced energy flow leading to clarity, rejuvenation and emotional balance.
Ceremonial & Ritualistic Element: Both were traditionally performed with a sense of sacredness as an offering of healing, not just a technique.
๐ What is a sound bath?
A sound bath is a vibrational healing journey where the soothing resonance of instruments such as crystal bowls gently guides the body and mind into deep relaxation. The sound waves calm the nervous system, release stagnant energy, and restore natural harmony, leaving you refreshed, centred, and renewed.
๐ Do I need to prepare anything before coming to the Ayurveda head massage workshop?
To ensure you have the most comfortable and enjoyable experience, we recommend arriving with freshly washed hair and a clean scalp. This allows the oils and massage techniques to work best, and makes the treatment feel refreshing rather than heavy. Think of it as preparing your canvas for the relaxation youโll receive.
๐ Do I need to trim my nails before the retreat?
Yes, we kindly ask all participants to arrive with short, neatly trimmed nails. This is a standard practice in massage training, as longer nails can cause discomfort or even scratch the skin during practice. Keeping nails short ensures that both you and your practice partner can enjoy a safe, comfortable, and effective massage experience.
