Scream (1996)follows high schooler Sidney Prescott in the town of Woodsboro, terrorized by a masked killer, Ghostface, who uses horror movie trivia in deadly phone calls and games, targeting Sidney and her friends around the anniversary of her mother's murder, all while the film cleverly deconstructs slasher film tropes with a meta-commentary that keeps everyone guessing the killer's identity until a shocking reveal.
