These workshops are a response to Newham Heritage Service’s month-long exhibition ‘Care, Campaign, Create’. There will be a particular focus on material from GEMMA, a group for disabled and able-bodied lesbians formed in 1976 in Newham.
Using archival material, videos and oral histories as a lens, participants will explore and consider the complex relationships between queerness, health, disability and care.
They will then be led by an artist in unleashing their creativity to make an artistic response to these themes, drawing upon the exhibition and personal experiences.
In collaboration with Cameye Arts.
More details to come in January 2026.
