This workshop includes three 2-hour class sessions:
- Tuesday 2/24, 5pm-7pm: Session 1 - Lecture:
We'll discuss equipment and techniques to capture close-up images in awesome detail. Topics we will cover include camera settings, depth of field, fine-focusing and more. - Tuesday 3/3, 5pm-7pm: Session 2 - Photo Shoot:
This session is a hands-on photo shoot where you'll practice techniques discussed in the lecture, as we assist you with shooting macro in the classroom. - Tuesday 3/10, 5pm-7pm: Session 3 - "Show & Tell":
Attendees will share their favorite photos and success stories as a group. This is a great opportunity to share and receive feedback. You will also receive a FREE 13x19 print of your best shot ($20 value)
Do I need to pre-register?
Yes, we have limited seating, so pre-registration is required. Classes may sell out, so we recommend registering early. If we don’t meet the minimum registration requirements, the class may be canceled. Secure your spot today!
Are there any prerequisits?
This is an intermediate-level class. We recommend that participants have completed the ILC Camera Basics Class prior to attending, or have a basic understanding of aperture, ISO, and shutter speed. You do not need to be an expert in these settings, but a general familiarity with how to adjust them on your camera will be helpful.
What camera do I need?
This class is designed for interchangeable-lens cameras. While a macro or close-up lens is recommended, it is not required. Loaner gear may be available during the photoshoot portion of the class, based on needs and availability.
If you’re unsure whether your camera equipment is a good fit, please contact us before registering so we can help confirm that this class is right for you.
I have a certificate, how do I use it?
If you purchased a class certificate, or received one as a gift, please select “General Admission” when registering. Enter the Promo Code listed on your certificate at checkout to apply it. Certificate must be surrendered at time of class.

- During the lecture session, we will share recommended gear for the photo shoot portion.
