Join us for a mid-winter trip to RSPB Wallasea Island in Essex, one of the UK’s most inspiring habitat restoration projects.

We will explore Wallasea's mudflats, lagoons, and grazing marshes in search of various raptors, waders, and wildfowl, keeping an eye out for scarce species like Hen Harrier, Corn Bunting, and more.


Facilities

  • One toilet near the car park
  • Bird hides

PLEASE NOTE: There is no visitor centre, be prepared to be outdoors for 5-6 hours. Our coach will be available all day if you wish to sit in it for a break, and it has a toilet.


Travel Information

  • Coaches depart from Stop 40B, Victoria Embankment, 08:00 sharp
  • Arrive by 07:50 to board and stow your gear
  • Nearest Tube: Embankment
  • Both outbound and inbound journeys include a 20-min stop at services where you can use toilet faciities, and get drinks and food
  • Depart reserve at 16:00


What to Bring

  • Clothes for all weathers
  • Binoculars (and scope if you have one)
  • Packed lunch


In the Event of Bad Weather

To give you the best birdwatching experience on the day, we may be forced to change the destination at short notice due to circumstances beyond our control such as flooding or unsuitable weather. In this case we will not give refunds, and thank you for your understanding. If the trip is cancelled completely you will receive a full refund.
