Climate Cuts Film Event: A Stinch In Time?

Brinksway Cinema Club at What if? is excited to continue our Climate Cuts series - action-inspiring community film nights that bring people together through a powerful format: Watch. Talk. Eat. Act.

Join us on Thursday October 23rd as we explore this month's theme of sustainable fashion.

We're presenting a curated line-up of short films that will pull back the curtain on the impact of fast fashion and highlight innovative approaches to dressing more sustainably.

From grassroots makers to global movements, these films will provoke conversation and spark imagination about what fashion could look like in a climate-conscious world. Join us for an evening of cinema, community, and style and discover how culture and creativity can stitch together a more sustainable future.

EVENT SCHEDULE

Doors will open at 5:45pm for drinks and mingling.

WATCH

Four curated short films selected by Brinksway Cinema Club, including:

Greensleeves Inc.

A short comedy by Gatton Films that satirises the influencer space and the way that brands exploit others in order to appear green via “greenwashing”. It follows the story of eco-influencer Fleur as she heads to the studio for the launch of her new “green” brand deal, but she’s quickly met with the harsh reality of the corporate machine

Other films in the programme will be announced in the coming weeks.

CHAT

After the screenings, we'll hear inspiring lightning talks and join an open Q&A with local and national changemakers in the fashion and textile industries.

ACT

Attendees will then have the option to take part in an act of craftivism

EAT

We round off the evening with some warm food in the cafe space, and conversations - all shared together in good company. All wrapped up by 9:30pm

Tickets cost £5 and proceeds of sales will go towards future film events hosted by Brinksway Cinema Club.

Please note: as a lot of the short films we screen are independent and therefore don't have BBFC classification, we have to restrict this event to 18+ only.
